The Amen break - video explains the world's most important 6-sec drum loop
The Amen break is a 6 second (4 bar) drum solo performed in 1969 by Gregory Cylvester "G. C." Coleman in the song "Amen, Brother" performed by the 1960s funk and soul outfit The Winstons. The full song is an up-tempo instrumental rendition of Jester Hairston's "Amen," which he wrote for the Sidney Poitier film Lilies of the Field (1963) and which was subsequently popularized by The Impressions in 1964. The Winstons' version was released as a B-side of the 45 RPM 7-inch vinyl single "Color Him Father" in 1969 on Metromedia (MMS-117), and is currently available on several compilations and on a 12-inch vinyl re-release together with other songs by The Winstons.
It gained fame from the 1980s onwards when four bars (6 seconds) sampled from the drum-solo (or imitations thereof) became very widely used as sampled drum loops in breakbeat, hip hop, breakbeat hardcore, hardcore techno and breakcore, jungle and drum and bass (including oldschool jungle and ragga jungle), and digital hardcore music.[1] The Amen Break was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music—"a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures." It is arguably the most sampled drum beat of all time and unarguably one of the most sampled loops in contemporary electronic music.

Ultimate Guide to Camp Coffee
Story by Tim Conners @ Action Hub:
There aren’t many things better than greeting a cool, crisp morning with the steamy aroma of freshly brewed java. Or how about kicking back with a nice cup of joe after a long day on the trails? Don’t even get me started on just how essential the stuff is when the weather turns foul.

Classic Kit! Eagle Industries Covered watch band & Marathon Navigator MIL-Spec watch
Classic Kit!
Eagle Industries Covered watch band & Marathon Navigator MIL-PRF-46374G Type III, Class 1 watch.
I totally dig the covered watch band! The bummer is that is seems Eagle Industries is no longer making the covered watch band. But while searching them out discovered that they have some awesome equipment! Eagle Industries is a world leader in the production of premium equipment products for the military, homeland security, and law enforcement agencies. Producing more than 5,000 items including tactical vests, holsters, insertion extraction harnesses, gear bags, packs, weapon cases, miscellaneous pouches, and weapon slings for military and law enforcement personnel, Eagle has emerged as one of the most trusted names in tactical nylon gear. In 2009, Eagle became a wholly owned subsidiary of Alliant Techsystems, Inc. (ATK). http://www.eagleindustries.com
Marathon watches are the real deal! I originally learned about Marathon watches from CountyComm:

I came across the watch band via MWR forum:

Field Watch Research: BERTUCCI - SWISS MILITARY CALIBRE
I have had a keen interest in field watches mil-spec heritage for some time now and just doing research on both the style of what I like and the functionality of the watches I am looking at. The internet is a wealth of knowledge, data and history along with consumer opinions.
While the Bertucci brand may not have actual mil-spec heritage, they do have the look and also seemed to be backed by actual durability that one would expect from a "field watch."
Usually when I find a watch and or any product of interest, I usually go straight to the companies history or about page to see what type of game or claim they are making. Its all about the about!
When I read the Bertucci story, they are talking to me and about me! I am the "every man!" I'm not a baller looking to speed a ton of money on a Panerai / Rolex / Omega / Tag Heuer. I would have if I could have, but at this stage in my life, its not in the cards. Honestly I have been a diehard Swatch fan since 1983!
So, what was so captivating from Bertucci's about page?
"It's all about building a better watch... and it's all about our promise of performance to you."
They said "promise" IN PRINT! That is a HEAVY WORD in this day and age!
"If you were to own only one watch... it would be a watch well suited for life's endeavors. It would need to possess the qualities of durability, singularity of purpose, and versatility. In essence, equally rugged and refined, with a classic, understated, and enduring style."
They are really winning me over with some text in digital pixel form! The electricity could go off, and these words and statements would be gone... but for the moment, they have my attention.
"Original... Our Passion It's in our blood and it's in our brand. Bertucci™ Field Watches is a 10 years old, independent start up, stand alone U.S. Company. We are the market leader in titanium field watches..."
OK, They are a US Company - winning!
Titanium - winning!
Focused out outdoor activities and field watches - winning!!!
Give them a look and start at the about page:
http://www.bertucciwatches.com/Bertucci/ourstory.html
Also, this is where I discovered them again from:

Mil-Spec Monkey Patch Books
I grew up collecting patches... collecting my Boy Scouts Merit badges and various patches my dad collected for me for my denim jacket. Those were various motorcycle patches and places visit.
Lately seems like all patches call for velcro backing for interchangeability. Thus you need some place to keep them all. May as well have a nice tactical book to keep them in. Enter the Mil-Spec Monkey Patch Book or MSM Mega Patch Book.
